Before Bed Prep
Share
Before going to sleep, you want to reset and secure the hair.
1. Add Light Moisture
Lightly mist the hair with water or apply a small amount of mousse. Water helps rehydrate the strands. Mousse helps maintain structure and curl pattern.
The hair should be damp — not soaking.
2. Braid or Twist It Down
After adding moisture:
- Braid the hair or
- Do a twist-out or braid-out
The size does not matter — but the smaller and tighter the braid, the more defined the result will be in the morning.
If you want softer, looser waves, do larger braids.
If you want more definition, go tighter.
This step prevents:
- Tangling
- Matting
- Friction damage
- Excess frizz
And it preserves the curl pattern beautifully.
3. Lock in the Moisture
Before finishing, lightly mist the braids one more time if needed.
Remember: Raw Burmese hair responds beautifully to water. Use that to your advantage.
4. Protect with Silk
This step is non-negotiable. Cover your hair with:
- A silk wrap
- A silk bonnet
- A silk scarf
- Or any satin-lined head covering
Silk reduces friction while you sleep, helping the hair remain:
- Soft
- Smooth
- Shiny
- Moisturized
Cotton pillowcases will dry the hair out and cause friction, avoid them whenever possible.
If You Have a Leave-Out
If you’re blending your natural hair with your Burmé bundles:
- Braid or twist the bundles as usual.
- Lightly mist your leave-out with water.
- Braid your leave-out or set it with a flexi rod to match the bundle texture.
- Wrap the entire head, especially the leave-out —with a silk scarf.
In the morning, when you take everything down, your natural hair will be soft underneath and will blend seamlessly with the bundles.
No frizz. No mismatch. Just harmony.
Why This Matters
Your Burmé hair is an investment.
When you prep it properly before bed:
- It lasts longer
- It styles easier
- It maintains softness
- It keeps its bounce
- It looks fresh every day
Luxury hair is low maintenance, but never no maintenance.
Treat it like it’s growing from your scalp, and it will reward you with softness, movement, and longevity.
Protect it at night. Enjoy it in the morning.
